Alnitak Flip-Flat Electroluminescent Flat Fielding Device

For those of you with refractors, you can choose the robotically controlled Flip-Flat.

"I have one of your Flip-Flats that I use with my AP 130GT. I love it."
-Ashton K.

See Charlie Warren’s review of the Flip-Flat in the Fall '09 issue of Amateur Astronomy magazine and Alan Smallbone's review in the July issue of Astrophoto Insight magazine.

The Flip-Flat is completely integrated into the latest version of CCD Autopilot, and as of version 5.0.7, the Flip-Flat is also fully integrated into Maxim DL.

Alnitak Flat-Man Electroluminescent Flat Fielding Device

For those on a budget who don’t need the robotic features of the Flip-Flat, the Flat-Man is a great choice. Employing the same electroluminescent panel technology as in the Flip-Flat, and powered by a single USB cable, the Flat-Man is controlled by our Windows software. It is simply placed on the vertically oriented OTA for flats.

Alnitak Flat-Man L Large-Size Electroluminescent Flat Fielding Device

For those of you with medium size telescopes, in the 8-13" range, the Flat-Man L will fit your needs. It can either be placed on the vertical OTA, or hung on an observatory wall perpendicular to the parked telescope OTA to get great flats. As with all Alnitak flat fielding devices, the brightness can be controlled via our custom Windows controller, or with a command line program that can be used in scripts.

Alnitak Flat-Man XL Extra-Large Electroluminescent Flat Fielding Device

The Flat-Man XL, our observatory-mounted flat field panel has been in use by dozens of customers for over a year with rave reviews. Several of our panels have been mounted in university observatories, and more and more advanced imagers are getting hooked on the high quality flats these panels produce. Check out Arne Danielsen’s recent image of the Heart Nebula to see what can be done with electroluminescent flat field images.

"We use our Flat-Man XL’s whenever we’re taking pictures or doing research. They work great and we’re thrilled with them! No observatory should be without them! Excellent quality, reasonable price, the best flat-fielding we’ve ever done! Thanks for a superb product!"

Dave Bradstreet
Eastern University Astronomy Program Director

Only 1" deep, this unit mounts to the observatory wall, or stand, perpendicular to the telescope park position. Also fully integrated into CCD Autopilot.

This panel delivers incredibly even flats. We have found that we can get flat fields that have illumination across the field with less than 2% variation from the average value!

We have three different sizes, 18", 24", and now 30" square illuminated panels. We usually keep the 18" panels in stock, with about a 4-week lead time for the larger panels. Check on the availability in the left side panel
