Ray Tracing The optical design of the NGC 316 was performed using Zemax. Optec's optical engineers optimized the design for four field points using wavelengths of 450, 550 and 650 nm. The goal was for the smallest blur diameters for the four field points. The system was modeled using a classic LX200 16" SCT with a native focal ratio of f/10. To achieve the 0.75X reduction the telescope optics are defocused slightly to achieve an end result f/7.5 highly corrected optical system. Custom tools were made for all surfaces.
