How do you adapt to your telescope?

Over the years, Optec has developed dozens of adapters and custom fittings for various telescopes and mounts. Our most common telescope adapters are based upon a circular dovetail mount in two different sizes.

OPTEC-2400 mount - our standard 2.4-inch diameter circular dovetail mount
OPTEC-3600 mount - our larger, 3.6-inch diameter circular dovetail mount
OPTEC-4300 mount - our newest, 4.3-inch diameter circular dovetail mount

Generally, the OPTEC-2400 mount can be used to attach our 2-inch accessories such as the TCF-S and IFW. Likewise, the OPTEC-3600 mount can be used to attach our 3-inch accessories such as the TCF-S3 or Pyxis 3".

Responding to recent requests for threaded adapters and fittings, Optec has introduced a new line of adapters and extension tubes designed around the Astro-Physics 2.7-inch thread specification and the new, larger Deep Sky Instruments DSI 3.5 thread spec.

Optec 2.4" Dovetail Mount

The OPTEC-2400 circular dovetail mount is used for the TCF-S focuser and IFW filter wheel to allow easy connections from most any telescope. If your scope or accessory is not listed, do not hesitate to call.

OPTEC-3600 Dovetail Mount

Telescope Adapters for the TCF-S3", Pyxis 3", IFW 3" and Perseus

Optec 3.6" Dovetail Mount

The OPTEC-3600 circular dovetail mount is used for the large TCF-S3 focuser, Pyxis 3" rotator, or the IFW 3" filter wheel to allow easy connections from most any telescope. If your scope or accessory is not listed, do not hesitate to call.

Telescope Adapters for the Limited Back-Focus Edition TCF-S3" Focuser

Optec 4.3" Dovetail Mount

The OPTEC-4300 circular dovetail mount has been specially made to accommodate the #17689 Limited Back-Focus Edition of the TCF-S3 focuser. These flush mount adapters allow the 3-inch drawtube of the TCF-S3 to pass inside the adapter for reduced overall length.

2-inch Drawtube Adapters Our 2-inch and 3-inch line of Drawtube Adapters were designed for use with the TCF-S and TCF-S3 focusers. However, the can be used with any smooth-bore 2-inch or 3-inch focuser or receiver.

"Push-fit" Drawtube Adapters

2" and 3" Receivers:

The ideal 2" and 3" receivers are the TCF-S and TCF-S3 focusers. Occasionally, however, a simple receiver tube is all that is required. For example, to adapt any of the NextGEN line of telecompressors to a standard SCT thread, you can use the #17401 2-inch SCT Receiver.

Likewise, to adapt the larger NextGEN 3" telecompressors you can specify the #17481 3-inch Receiver and a suitable OPTEC-3600 Dovetail mount.
